Relocating an entire prop business is no small task. Relocating four established prop companies whilst keeping them fully operational is another challenge altogether.

When Classic Prop Hire embarked on the move from Southall to a brand-new facility at Sky Studios Elstree, the objective was clear: unite Classic Prop Hire, Classic Modern, Number Eight Prop Hire and Seasons Textiles under one roof and create a world-class resource for the UK film and television industry. The result would be a purpose-built, three-storey warehouse spanning over 100,000 square feet. Getting there required careful planning, organisation and a reliable workforce capable of delivering at scale.

Gallowglass was brought in to provide the experienced event crew and on-site leadership needed to support the transition. Working closely with the client and transport partners, our teams became an extension of the project, helping manage the constant flow of stock, equipment and infrastructure between the two locations.

The scale of the operation was significant. Across 90 working days, Gallowglass delivered close to 8,400 hours of on site labour, providing the flexibility and manpower required to keep the project moving forward while responding to changing priorities on site. Despite the size and complexity of the move, strong communication between all parties ensured the relocation remained on track and disruption was kept to a minimum.

One of the standout features of the project was the collective team approach taken by everyone involved. From warehouse teams and transport providers to project managers and crew chiefs, there was a shared commitment to finding solutions, maintaining high standards and creating a positive working environment. Throughout the project, feedback consistently recognised the professionalism, work ethic and problem-solving attitude demonstrated by Gallowglass crews.

The successful completion of the relocation marked an important milestone for Classic Prop Hire. The new facility at Sky Studios Elstree has created a unique hub for film and television productions, bringing together an extensive range of props and production services in a single location on a major studio campus.
