The institution that is the Sports Personality of the Year Awards has been running since 1954 when Chris Chataway pipped Roger Bannister for the title. Many true legends have been honoured since as it has grown massively since its inception. We have been honoured to work on the event ourselves for several years too.

An exciting new project undertaken with our client Cinelogic Digital UK Limited, that will see many of Europe’s cinemas being upgraded with the very latest cinematic technology.

With only 2 days to prepare the O2 arena for this major gymnastic event and 1 day to de-rig it, a team of 68 crew worked a total of 440 hours to build and de-rig an elevated platform for competitors to showcase their incredible skills.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona attracts more than 2,300 companies and hosts 100,000 telecoms professionals viewing the latest mobile and technical advances.

The set up for Champions Tennis is always an exciting day, in less than 24 hours the arena will be cleared, raised, re-floored, re-lit and completely transformed from concert venue into international sports arena. A total of 72 crew for the build/derig with man hours hitting the 738 mark.

Gallowglass has been delighted to support Unusual Rigging and White Partners on both events providing 252 crew across 100 locations on 38 days for the build and derig.

We’re also proud to highlight Gallowglass Health & Safety LLP’s input where 11 of our advisers provided 1250 pages of RAMS across all the sites, which were attended by over 2,700,000 visitors with zero event related incidents.

19 UK crew boarded a cruise ship at Southampton to rig and de-rig the set designed for shooting the program at sea en route to Barcelona. It took 4,536 man hours to complete and all the while in the midst of hundreds of regular paying passengers. At Barcelona, the crew was reinforced by 9 of our Barcelona crew to complete the final de-rig over 2,016 man hours over 2 days.

The stats tell us that we have been involved in the build and derig at Reading since 2004.

In that time we have provided 1168 crew led by 192 Crew Chiefs who have criss-crossed the site on 1542 man days. Yes, that over 4 years!
