After a problematic couple of years, the UK film industry continues to get back on its feet and flourish. During these tricky times, Gallowglass has been supporting them along their journey.

The job of a crewing company is predominantly to do the graft on rigs, de-rigs & turnarounds. This is where our scenic operators and supervisors, skilled crew, MEWP & plant operators and banksmen all work hand in hand to deliver consistency in what is becoming an increasingly demanding landscape.

However, our own development and growth is geared towards taking some of the weight off our client’s shoulders and to make their lives a little less challenging.

This has seen us take on greater responsibility for several clients who are now coming to us not just for site or studio assistance but also filming day support.

They recognise, and more importantly put a value on the experience and knowledge that our crew have gained over many years across multiple sectors within the industry - from film location support, show turnarounds to live TV.

A clear example of this is our relationship with Dock 10 in Salford. Since the studios opened their doors in 2011, we have been supplying scenic supervisors & scenic operators, as well as efficient, local crew to deliver production support for the tight turnarounds in a studio environment.

As this relationship has evolved the crew have developed a thorough understanding of studio work and the skills involved. We have become trusted partners - leading to our involvement on filming days for Match of The Day, Blue Peter and Countdown to name a few.

The affiliation between Dock10 and Gallowglass has been one of collaboration and cooperation. In association with local Salford colleges, we have successfully developed a bespoke in-house technical apprenticeship scheme to Dock10.

The recruitment and training of these young people locally has been a key feature of Dock10’s ongoing CSR programme in what is a new and vibrant industry sector in Salford. Over the years there have been several members of the Gallowglass team who have taken permanent roles at the studios - what better endorsement for the crew we supply?

The UK film industry has produced some of the most successful movies of all time - the James Bond and Harry Potter film franchises are classic examples. The industry employs around 80,000 people, making it one of UK’s most productive and vibrant industries.

Gallowglass crew have become part of this talented workforce, working on some of the UK’s most iconic films. We are proud to know that our broad range of event experience has enabled us to contribute set-up, on-set & filming support to TV & movie productions.

Along with the basic essential crewing tasks, our standby crews assist the set, lighting, camera, sounds & prop teams throughout filming.
