Introducing: The Working Holiday Club - textSectionComponent

You may have read the recent interview with a member of our HR team, Alyssa Plummer, and noticed that she came to us through The Working Holiday Club. We’ve had a partnership with this company for over two  years and have had some fantastic employees through them during this time. So, today, we thought we’d shed some light on what The Working Holiday Club do and give you an insight into the experience some of our event crew in the UK have had thanks to their initial referral!

What is The Working Holiday Club?

TWHC is an overseas working holiday specialist based in Australia. They provide working holiday packages for 18-31-year-olds, helping with everything from visas, flights and accommodation to jobs on arrival and ongoing support during the stay. The working holiday locations offered by TWHC include Canada, Japan and, of course, the UK!

TWHC make things simple for those looking for an exciting travel and working experience, helping to turn one person’s travel dreams into reality. With a selection of packages available, TWHC can help travellers pick the option that best suits their needs.

What do The Working Holiday Club Offer?

TWHC’s packages cater to the different needs and preferences of each traveller. Before you set off, they can help you to sort out a visa for up to two years, a bank account, national insurance number, flights and everything you’ll need to get started once you arrive in the UK. A number of experts are on hand to help the process move along as smoothly as possible, and to answer any queries visitors may have.

Once you arrive in your chosen country, TWHC can provide you with a list of accommodation options for your viewing, and a list of potential employers  that they already have a relationship with to get you set up. This is where Gallowglass comes in, as a highly popular employment route for many. Most of the crewmen that have joined us through TWHC had their interviews and inductions in just a few days, meaning they could start work almost instantly.

Jobs at Gallowglass

Due to the flexible working hours Gallowglass offer, a role with us is perfect for those wanting to explore the UK whilst holding down a job, especially as our crew travel all over to different venues and events. The work is typically quite physical and can involve long hours, which don’t fit into the standard 9-5 day. However, it is also often incredibly exciting and rewarding to have the opportunity to work on world-famous events and get a peek at what goes on behind the scenes. A can-do attitude certainly goes a long way if you’re looking to earn while travelling

If you’re in need of some time off for any reason, you can give as little as a week’s notice and have your jobs still waiting when you return. What’s more, there are often opportunities to work abroad, giving crew the chance to see more of Europe. Some of the locations our crews have worked in include Barcelona, Croatia, Germany and France.

Working with Gallowglass is a very sociable role as crews are sent out to jobs in groups of varying size, helping those that are new to the UK to make friends and learn more about the local culture, where to go and what to do to make the most of their trip. No two days at Gallowglass are the same; one day you may be unloading flight cases and building a stage for a live concert, the next you might be setting up equipment for an Olympic event!

Another perk of our jobs is the training opportunities available that are all funded through the company. These include banksman, harness and CSCS training. These skills can lead to a pay rise for people working in the roles, and are often transferable once you return home, opening more doors at the end of your travelling experience!

If you want to know more about some of our crew’s experiences with Gallowglass and TWHC, check out the interview video at the bottom of the page.
