Gallowglass Business Highlights for 2017 - textSectionComponent

2017 was another fantastic year for us here at Gallowglass. We have had so many incredible experiences and love being a part of the vibrant world of events. If you keep up to date with our blog, you’ve probably heard about a handful of the exciting events, venues and clients that we have worked with, but we’ve barely touched the surface. With the New Year well underway, we thought we would take a little time to reflect on a few of our highlights from the past year.

Sports

2017 was yet another year packed with highly anticipated sporting events, from the Antony Joshua fight at Cardiff Stadium to the London Marathon. We helped to set up for the Tour of Britain, The Open, Scottish Open, French Open, Wimbledon, the Gymnastics World Cup and the Six Nations Rugby, just to name a few! Our crews travelled all over the UK and further afield to ensure that our clients received the best service we can offer. With our business having been built upon the discipline of rugby, good sportsmanship and teamwork, we’re proud to still be a part of this industry today. Find out more about what goes on behind the scenes at sporting events in our recent blog!

Festivals

Every year, a number of new festivals are created all over the UK, drawing visitors from all over the world to see world-class acts, independent artists and to enjoy an array of other unique experiences. The dedication and hard work that goes into organising the activities and services requires specialist teams to take on tasks such as building stages and fences, health and safety before, during and after the event, and setting up the lighting. Our crews have been on hand at a number of festivals providing these services and more in 2017. A few of the 40+ festivals we worked at included Creamfields, Edinburgh Fringe, Festival Number 6, Glastonbury, Latitude, Reading, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Festival of Business and V Festival!

TV

Our contract with dock10 (MediaCityUK) this year has led to our crews working on much-loved TV programmes such as Match of the Day, Dragons’ Den, Judge Rinder, Blue Peter, Countdown and The Voice UK. Other opportunities have included helping to set the scene for shows such as Sunday Brunch, Crystal Maze and the X-Factor!

Film

In terms of films, we’re proud to have been a part of the filming of some of this year’s silver screen highlights - including Paddington 2, Mission Impossible 6, Justice League, and Transformers: The Last King. Filming aside, we also helped to set up for the premieres of the latest addition to the Star Wars series: The Last Jedi and Murder on the Orient Express.

Venues

London is one of our busiest regions, with our teams working at prestigious locations such as the Tower of London, 10 Downing Street, Harrods, the Houses of Parliament, Wembley Stadium and The Shard! Although London is certainly the busiest, our crews also worked in many other locations in both the UK and in Europe in 2017. A few of these include Southampton and Newcastle Football Clubs, the Millennium Stadium Cardiff, Mercedes Benz World and Ascot Racecourse. Our local crews are typically familiar with the most popular venues in their regions and adapt incredibly quickly to the ever-growing range of settings we work in. With event crew in Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and many other locations, our teams often travel to lend a hand elsewhere on our biggest projects.

With significant business expansion in 2017, we’ve started off the New Year working as hard as ever to provide highly skilled event crews to a broad range of clients and to continue this growth. The events mentioned above offer an insight into what our crews have been up to, but if you’d like to find out more, head over the Projects page where you’ll find some in-depth case studies on a few of our recent events.
