Becoming an Event Crew Member - textSectionComponent

Contrary to many of the other positions advertised in the working sphere, previous experience in an event crew role is not always necessary to be accepted for an event crew job. Here at Gallowglass, we look for candidates that have several redeeming attributes that would make them suitable for our specialised training. So, if you're looking to change your job, want to be part of an exciting industry, your career in the event crew industry could begin today by completing our simple online application form. Take a look below to see some of the attributes we look for and some of the perks of the job:

What We Look for in Candidates:

Reliability + Punctuality

For a lot of event crew employers, finding candidates that have a proven record of reliability is at the top of their checklist. If you are a dedicated and dependable employee, being a part of an event crew could be a rewarding occupation for you to pursue. Reliable event crew members will get to work on exciting projects, often getting the cream of the crop, and are always the first to be considered for promotions and pay rises! So, if you are feeling undervalued in your current job, it may be time to switch over to an employer that values your daily contributions. Remember, we are truly a 24/7, 365 day industry.

A Can-do Attitude

Because the job can be strenuous, being enthusiastic and having a can-do attitude is an essential part of being successful within an event crew role. If you can demonstrate a proactive working attitude, employers- such as us at Gallowglass- will revel in the chance to train you to work within this exciting industry.

Whilst having experience in physically challenging roles could make you a great candidate for an event crew job, it is not always necessary. However, because you will be helping to construct sets you must be fit and able to maintain a high level of energy throughout the working day. Duties can include unloading trucks, constructing stages and seating structures, installing flooring or barriers and then packing it all back into the truck once the event has finished, and the dust has settled!

The Perks of the Job:

Varied Working Days

No one event job is ever the same as the next, so if you find the thought of being stuck in an office completing the same monotonous tasks, day-in-day-out, too disheartening, then an event crew job could be for you! This career could have you working on events, such as the Reading Festival, one day and then onto the set of the latest and greatest TV shows the next. There truly is no better sense of accomplishment than knowing you were a part of something that thousands of people get to enjoy!

You Have the Travel Bug

The life of an event crew member is well-suited to those who like to travel. The work of an event crew member can take you to many locations around the UK, and abroad. We have been on some amazing events, for example, to the sunny shores of Barcelona, where we rigged and de-rigged a cruise ship for popular ITV Studios show 'Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway'.
Flexibility

Thanks to our zero hour contracts and attractive rates of pay starting at £8.50 per hour (including holiday pay) rising to £17 per hour (including holiday pay), not many job roles will offer you the flexibility that you get with Gallowglass. Rather than demanding you go on a job, we give you the option to accept or decline the events with as little as a week's notice. We also will not hold a grudge if you are unable to do an event, because your job will be waiting here for you until the next suitable event arises.

Paid Qualifications

Here at Gallowglass, we always want to help our crew be the best they can be. We give our employees the option to take qualifications in a range of courses related to the industry, and the best part is that we will pay for them! Our crews are constantly learning on the job also, and we ensure that new members are given the rigorous training they need to succeed in an event crew role.

Amazing Locations, Amazing People

Our event crew teams have worked on some exciting projects, in many amazing locations, throughout the years. Previous projects include working for the BBC, Manchester United, the Rugby World Cup and Glastonbury Festival. These amazing events give you the chance to run into a celebrity or two.

However, it's not only the celebrities that will make your day! At Gallowglass, our teams are like one big family, and you will get to work with your friends every day. During your first days with the team, you will be guided and supported by every member of the crew to ensure you are on track.

So, if you think you have what it takes, apply today for our event crew jobs. London is the location of our main office; however, we have offices across the UK, and you can apply for the most applicable location through their individual applications. We will review your application and be in touch with you in no time at all so that you can start your new career!
