Gallowglass 2018 Events Annual Round-Up - textSectionComponent

Happy New Year!  As we throw ourselves into 2019, we can’t resist taking one last look at the highs and highs of the last 12 months. Last year, not only did we work with almost 1,900 different clients on over 7,400 individual projects, but we were lucky enough to have played a part in some of the year’s most prominent events. From concerts, shows and festivals to film, TV and sports events, here’s a quick round-up of 2018:

Concerts and Shows

With music occupying such a hefty chunk of the live events scene, concerts, shows and festivals are always high on the agenda for Gallowglass, whether they’re on global stages or at exclusive parties. In 2018, our crewmen worked for some of the world’s biggest names - helping them stage a selection of jaw-dropping shows, many of which made it a landmark year for performers and audiences alike. These included:

From beauty to cars, from food to films, Gallowglass assisted at some of the UK’s biggest festivals last year, and we loved every second! The growing demand for experiential consumption saw the popularity of festivals continue to rise in 2018, making them some of the most stand-out events on the cultural and entertainment calendar.

We’ve been involved with hundreds of festivals over the years, but 2018 was a particularly busy year for our crewmen, who worked around the clock to bring many of these vibrant events to life. While problem-solving, long hours and tight deadlines throw constant challenges at festival crews, the opportunity to learn new skills, work with innovative technology and witness the transformation of a bare patch of grass or an empty hall into a global village, make all that hard work worthwhile!

These are two of the UK’s most thriving entertainment sectors and in 2018 Gallowglass worked on exciting projects within both. From some of the year’s biggest blockbuster movies and premieres to a range of popular TV shows, our crewmen were in demand to provide much-needed support. As well as carrying out essential crewing tasks, they assisted on-set with lighting, backdrops and stunts. They often remained on standby throughout filming, and at times brushed shoulders with a sprinkling of the world’s most revered stars!
