Gallowglass Joins Events Industry Talent Taskforce

Professionals discussing the UK Events Industry

Gallowglass offering event crew jobs in the UK is one of several leading UK events companies to have collaborated on the The UK Events Industry Board Talent Taskforce to create a programme of research that will report directly to the UK Government on how the events industry attracts, develops and retains its talent.

Gallowglass Group Chairman Paul Grecian said: “From product launches to public ceremonies, the events this country produces are the envy of the world, but we can’t afford to be complacent. The excellence of our work depends on the people who make it happen and we must ensure that as our industry continues to expand we are able to fill job vacancies with smart, motivated people.

“The Government is keen to maintain our competitiveness and has asked the Events Industry Board (EIB) to report back on careers structures, skills gaps and people-development initiatives to ensure that, as an industry, we continue to develop a creative and highly-competent workforce.”

The Events Industry Board (EIB) was created as part of the Government’s Business Visits and Events strategy and the newly-launched research programme will gather feedback from employers and leading UK industry trade associations. One of its objectives is to discover potential skills shortages within the sector resulting from Brexit.

The research will include an online survey, a series of telephone interviews with industry-leading employers and a programme of association-led round-table forums. It will examine the global competitiveness of the events industry workforce, many of whom offer event crew jobs in the UK, and catalogue the range of events-specific education and training currently available.

The resulting EIB Talent Taskforce report is expected to be delivered to the Government early in the New Year.
